NEWS!!!

My one and only baby sister called me last night to let me know.... I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!! I'm so excited. I wanted to cast on a bunch of baby stuff last night but she still doesn't know if she's having a boy or girl so I made myself wait. What would you suggest? Start a bunch of green and yellow stuff or make myself wait another 7 weeks or so until she finds out?

Congrats! Being an aunt rocks. I went with non-gender, non-pastel colors - for example, I made the little baby bolero (Last Minute Knitted Gifts?) from tan Blue Sky Organic Cotton.

I agree with Chris. Go non-gender specific. Go wild and crazy with colors. Congrats to you!!! That's awesome news. I'm so excited for you. I can feel your excitement from here ::grin::

Hurray! Let the baby knitting begin, I say(although as fast as you get things done you could probably wait until the ultrasound).

I vote with Chris. If you need to cast on for something right now try a neutral colored sweater or maybe a primary color baby blanket?

start knitting girl! Baby bolero's hoodies anything that could go either way and now adays all colours are cool. I think orange is a good colour for boy or girl!

Congrats! Being an Aunt is the greatest...seriously, so fun. We'll have to discuss all the latest and greatest baby patterns, because I too will be knitting non-gender specific baby stuff until October for my soon-to-be niece or nephew #3.

I like the orange idea. Bought some orange and green for a generic baby blanket. The bolero is a good idea. You must knit something.

Congrats! Hey- are you going to make a baby quilt as well as all the amazing knits I know you must have planned?

Make some toys. Those don't have to be gender specific ever. Blocks, balls, stuffed animals, etc.

congrats!! i think you could start with some neutral patterns/colors now, move into the cute gender specific later. PLUS, if you make non-gender specifics, then all the babies can wear those pieces!

Congrats on being an Auntie!!!!! So many great babyknits out there! I would definitely start with something green or yellow.....not everything they wear needs to be pink or blue, depending.

Congrats! I think I would go with neutrals that can be altered later to add girl/boy touches (adding ribbing/button bands etc) and use white, chocolate and charcoal-y type colors.

You have quite a stash of baby stuff already knit, right?
